Golden Globes 2014 {Best Dressed and some not-so}

Such an exciting night in in Hollywood! There were so many {wonderful} surprises, awkward moments {you know who you are}, and of course glamourous looks on the red carpet! {So many I am having a hard time choosing}

Let’s start off with some of the best moments:

Best Jokes by Tina and Amy:

“George Clooney would rather float away into space than spend one more minute with a woman his own age”

“Like a supermodel’s vagina, please give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio.”

“Matthew McConaughey’s 45lb weight loss for The Dallas Buyers Club, is ‘what actresses in Hollywood call preparing for a movie.”

Amy as the teenage boy child of Tina Fey’s asking is Idris Elba was his/her father.

And can I give a Hooray! For Amy Poehler. She WON! Which she completely deserves it! But hello… she made out with BONO!

Amy Poehler making out with Bono
Andy Samberg won! Totally unexpected, a good day for SNL alum.

…and Emma Thompson. She is just so wonderful, even drunk, barefoot and a little belligerent.

Best Dressed

Lupita Nyong’o

Gorgeous! I wished I could pull off a cape like this woman. She does it and looks like a goddess, I look like some weird little lady Hobit. But Lupita killed it in this breathtaking crimson Ralph Lauren number.

Margot Robbie

May not have been the star of Wolf, but she was the star of the red carpet. She was sleek and stunning in this beautiful Gucci gown. The incredible high slit and the  jewel encrusted trim was perfection.

Amy Adams

Featuring a very American Hustle look, in a low cut color-blocked Valentino. When choosing this look she said she was “influenced by my character.” Not a huge fan of her hair though… it’s more 00s prom than 70s glam. I would have loved to see it down.

Now for the ladies of Downton…

Michelle Dockery

Lady Mary wore a strapless Oscar De La Renta dress with raised hemline. This gown is pale, yet does not wash her out, but accentuates her porcelain complexion. Such a fantastic sequin detail, that paired with the structure of the gown, creates a very interesting and fantastic look.

Laura Carmichael

Stunning in my favorite black and white looks of the evening, she is wearing one of my personal favorite designers, Viktor + Rolf, who created this elegant column dress for Lady Edith.

Elisabeth Moss

PEGGY! PEGGY!!! You go girl! This was one of the aforementioned surprises of the night! So, she didn’t actually win for Mad Men, but can’t I be happy for both Elisabeth and Peggy? Whatever the case she looked stunning in this black and oxblood colored sequin J.Mendel number, accepting this award. Oh and slip flipped off the mani cam! She is one bad bitch!

Kerry Washington

She was my most anticipated person on the red carpet, and she did not disappoint! This was a seriously stunning Balenciaga dress, designed by Alexander Wang especially for her baby bump.

Olivia Wilde

Another glowing baby bump having stylish woman on the red carpet. Olivia looked absolutely fab in this fitted Gucci gown. I like to call it mermaid skin.

Cate Blanchett

Yes, her gown was gorgeous, a wonderful Victorian lace Armani Privé dress. But may I just say her speech was just so lovely and references vodka and barbiturates AND Judy Garland. So now we love her even more.

Emma Watson

So smart… wearing a dress with pants! Plus, looks fantastic while doing it! It has been called the backwards mullet dress, but I like to think of it more as a fashionable hospital gown! Oh, and it’s Couture Dior, in case you have a semi-formal event, and you can’t decide whether to wear a dress or pants.

And we cannot forget the men…

Usher

He rocked the red carpet in an oxblood wool two-button notch lapel tuxedo by Calvin Klein, and a black bow tie!

Matthew McConaughey

Check out this green velvet jacket by Dolce & Gabbana. Oh my! *fans herself*

Leonardo DiCaprio

What can I say, a vision in Armani {as always} *12 year old self swoons* {who am I kidding} *my current self swoons*
Another winner of the night for his incredible portrayal of Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street!

Honourable Mention

Sandra Bullock

Now I am a sucker for color-blocking, and this is a great look from Prabal Gurung, however, my overly critical neurosis cannot handle the wrinkles. Maybe wrinkles don’t exist in space, but here we have gravity, c’mon Sandy! {OK, I don’t get science}

Not So Great…

Jennifer Lawrence

Don’t get me wrong I love JLaw, {even if she is contractually obligated to wear Dior} but let me turn the mic over to the wonderful Julie Van Huizen who said it best:

And aparently there is a new fun meme happening, “Lawrencing”:

Julia Roberts

Why? Oh Why? This reminds me of the days of Clueless when it was fashionable to wear white T-shirts under spaghetti strap top. {See below}

Paula Patton

WOW! When she came on stage I thought she was being attacked by a very frilly ghost. But no, she is just wearing what my dear friend Robin {not her husband} called a “Vagina Dress.” Maybe Robin Thicke is into that sorta thing.

Worst Hair: Hayden Panettiere

She looks like that villan guy from The Avengers. That guy my good friend Joy loves…
